Baewulf

The old poem Baewulf is kind of confusing. Here are some of the characters so far,

    1. Baewulf: a great hero. He comes "across the sea" to help defeat Grendel. He is very strong and brave but also prideful and says that he can defeat grendel alone. He went to battle with him one night. He was pretending to be asleep because Grendel always came to eat the warriors. He killed him!
    2. Grendel: is a villian. He took over the Dane's feast room where he has lived for the past 12 years. He came because he was tired of hearing the humans being happy and feasting every night so that may of been one of the reasons he attacked. He cannot be hurt with weapons forcing Baewulf to fight him with his bare hands
    3.Hrothgar: Ruler of the Danes who accepts Baewulf's request to defeat Grendel.
    4. Unfurth: is kind of Baewulf's "side-kick". He is jealous of all the attention Baewulf gets after the great sea attack with Breca and feels he will never get as much attention because he isn't as extraordinary as baewulf.
